$71,846 - $115,129 annually. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts ( LLPA ) is seeking a Coordinator for the Professional Communication ( PCOM ) program. Reporting to the Dean of LLPA , the PCOM Coordinator provides leadership, advising and operational support to ensure that the Professional Communication program functions effectively.
This position takes effect August 16, 2025 for an initial one-year term with the possibility of an extension for an additional two years.
This role has 1 section of time release available for the 2025-2026 academic year and the responsibilities for the position are distributed across the fall, winter and summer semesters.
Available sections are identified each year.
As PCOM Coordinator, you will:
• Represent the Professional Communication area within the Communications Department and liaise effectively with the Department Chair;
• Schedule and chair regular PCOM program meetings;
• Convene annual Advisory Committee meetings;
• Work collaboratively with the Department Chair and the administrative assistants to organize timetabling, submit room-booking requests, and contribute to the preparation of the annual Education Plan;
• Help to coordinate the selection of faculty by serving as a member of the Selection Committee or as a content area expert;
• Contribute to the development of the Department's capital budget requests;
• Manage the program budget including annual memberships and subscriptions;
• Work with the Department Chair, LLPA EdTech representatives and administrative assistants to ensure program needs for computer resources and educational technology are addressed, and existing equipment maintained;
• Initiate and oversee updating of PCOM program-related curriculum guidelines and participate in program planning;
• Provide input in regards to Student Services, Admissions, Marketing and Communications ( MCO ), and other external units within the College;
• Contribute PCOM program-related content for Department and College publications and websites; ensure that all information is accurate and current;
• Maintain appropriate social media presence;
• Organize and participate in various recruitment events, in conjunction with Department and College-wide efforts;
• Foster connections in cooperation with colleagues with key industry professionals by attending trade fairs and other industry-related events;
• Develop opportunities for professional experience positions in collaboration with the CMNS 4000 course instructor;
• Manage program registration and enrolment by advising students, coordinating admission decisions, reviewing requests for PLAR , and facilitating pre-requisite waivers;
• Provide forum sessions to address student concerns and interests;
• Monitor student progress throughout the program;
• Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of recruitment initiatives and retention strategies;
• Address emergent concerns, when required and in compliance with the College Agreement and College policy.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• A Master's Degree in Professional Communication, or other relevant discipline, or equivalent;
• To be qualified to teach ( QTT ) courses in the PCOM program;
• To have two (2) years of FTE service;
• Related post-secondary teaching experience;
• Demonstrated administrative experience in a post-secondary environment or other relevant work environment;
• Demonstrated skill in professional writing and document production;
• To be able to maintain a balanced view of the priorities of the Communications Department, while supporting and advancing the goals of the Professional Communication program;
• Familiarity with relevant College policies, procedures and Collective Agreements;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
• Self-directedness and a strong work ethic;
• A demonstrated ability to work well in groups as well as to assume a leadership role;
• A demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to meet targets and deadlines;
• Certification(s) from relevant industry associations will be considered an asset.
