REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager
Position Summary

Nestlé Canada Confectionery is seeking a Facility Operator to join the Maintenance team at our chocolate manufacturing plant in Toronto, Ontario. This is a full-time position and may involve shift rotation and weekend work depending on business needs.

A day in the life of a Facility Operator
  • Perform work related to the day-to-day operation and maintenance of facilities equipment, including boilers, chillers, ammonia systems, air compressors, air handling units, wastewater treatment, building systems, elevators, and fire protection systems, while supporting safety, quality, reliability, and cost optimization.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of related Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Interpret, troubleshoot, and operate required computer systems to provide accurate and timely information for efficient equipment operation.
  • Execute preventive maintenance work orders as assigned and on time.
  • Conduct water analysis, including boiler water, steam condensate, and chilled water testing.
  • Record energy and water usage.
  • Provide and maintain accurate documentation, including equipment data and water testing results.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and Nestlé standards while supporting safety, quality, reliability, and cost optimization.
  • Adhere to all applicable Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, and food safety programs, including OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, FSSC 22000, and NQMS requirements.
You will also:
  • Support and/or back up HVAC mechanics and other team members as needed to support factory operations.
  • Work proactively with internal and external service providers on equipment and facility repairs.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards by keeping equipment and surrounding areas clean, orderly, and aligned with 5S and Nestlé Quality Standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and the Nestlé Continuous Excellence process.
  • Follow all safety regulations and good housekeeping practices while protecting company property.
  • Take appropriate steps to reduce waste of materials, energy, and other resources.
What will make you successful?
  • Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an Operating Engineer – 3rd Class or higher, and/or Refrigeration Class A or B, is required.
  • Valid Ontario Ozone Depletion Prevention Card is preferred.
  • Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic is preferred.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent, with basic mathematics skills and the ability to prepare reports and determine departmental efficiencies, including fractions and percentages.
  • Strong analytical, literacy, and comprehension skills, with the ability to interpret, understand, analyze, and troubleshoot operating specifications, technical procedure manuals, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent mechanical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong teamwork, attendance, and interpersonal skills.
