Job summary

SECURE is hiring a Facility Operator at its Boundary Lake site in BC. The role focuses on day‑to‑day safe operations of waste treatment, oil treatment, and water injection, with continuous customer communications and adherence to safety programs.

You will rotate through 7-on/7-off 12‑hour shifts and collaborate with a team committed to environmental compliance and reliable service. A strong safety background and hands‑on experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in waste processing, oil treating or water injection is a strong asset.
  • Midstream terminal operations experience is a strong asset.
  • Specialty training in boilers, treaters, pumps, shaker/centrifuge and loader is an asset.
  • Current and valid safety tickets: H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and TDG.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

  • Operate day‑to‑day safe facility operations with a focus on customer service.
  • Unloading trucks and managing oil emulsion, water & vacuum trucks.
  • Perform oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating.
  • Participate in waste processing, waste and mud tank operations, shaker/centrifuge operations and solids treating.
  • Receive, terminal storage and transport crude oil while adhering to quality controls.
  • Manage ongoing water injection, filter changes and pump maintenance.
  • Conduct solids treatment on the waste pad and boiler operations.
  • Support Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) implementations.
  • Submit truck tickets, daily plant checks and transfers to the office.
  • Ensure plant remains compliant with corporate safety programs.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As Facility Operator you are responsible for the day‑to‑day safe and customer service‑oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. Operators actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs and environment protection, while keeping in constant contact with customers and demonstrating excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service.

This position is located at our Boundary Lake facility, 45 minutes east of Fort St. John, BC.

The team at our Boundary Lake facility is proud to operate safely while delivering reliable service to our customers. Every team member plays an important role by taking ownership of their work, using sound judgment, and contributing to the success of the facility.

Work Environment

The schedule for this position is structured as a 7-on / 7-off rotation of 12-hour shifts, alternating between days and nights.

A Day in The Life
  • Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility
  • Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion and water & vacuum trucks
  • Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating
  • Participating in waste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating
  • Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude Oil Quality compliance
  • Managing ongoing water injection, filter changing and pump maintenance
  • Conducting treatment of solids on the waste pad
  • Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations
  • Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to
  • Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office
  • Participates in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
  • Waste plant operation (ensuring solids processing is meeting or exceeding landfill criteria and solids testing)
  • Following water injection SOP’s and best practices to protect the disposal well integrity
  • General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
  • Operational experience in waste processing, oil treating or water injection is considered a strong asset
  • Midstream terminal operations experience is considered a strong asset
  • Specialty training in boilers, treaters, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset
  • Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and TDG
  • A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
  • Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure strategic communication with multiple stakeholders
  • Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision‑making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices
  • A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of pre‑employment testing
