We are seeking an experienced anddriven Facility Manager / Chief Power Engineer tojoin our team and play a foundational leadership role in the safe andefficient operation of a thermal SAGD facility.

Position Summary

Reporting to the VPOperations & Engineering, the Facility Manager / Chief PowerEngineer will oversee day-to-day operations of the thermalfacility. The successful candidate will bring a proven track record ofleadership in operations, with a focus on building high-performingteams, managing budgets, and fostering a safety culture from theground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for theoperations team at the thermal oil facility, ensuring compliance withsafety, regulatory, and corporate requirements.
  • As ChiefPower Engineer, be responsible for all aspects of operations,including steam generation, water treatment, and utilities.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a multidisciplinary operations team,creating a culture of safety, ownership, accountability, andcontinuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement operationsstrategies, procedures, and standards aligned with company goals andregulatory expectations.
  • Oversee and manage operatingbudgets, production targets, cost control, and performance metrics.
  • Champion and drive a strong culture of health,safety, and environmental stewardship across theorganization.
  • Ensure the facility complies with AlbertaBoilers Safety Association (ABSA) regulations and other applicablecodes and standards.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering,maintenance, HSE, and senior leadership teams during the commissioningand early production phases.
  • Support the hiring, training,and development of operations personnel during the start-up phase.
  • Contribute to the overall project execution andreadiness-to-operate planning.
  • Participate in emergencyresponse planning and lead operational readiness initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • First Class Power Engineering Certificaterequired and must be valid in theprovince of Alberta, OR, transferable
  • Minimum of 15 years ofprogressive experience in oil and gas operations, with at least 5years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strongunderstanding of steam plant operations, and utilities management.
  • Experience in thermal heavy oil production is an asset, butnot necessarily required.
  • Experience with onsite powergeneration (turbine), is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability tobuild, lead, and inspire teams in a start-up or growth environment.
  • Solid experience in budgeting, cost control, and operationalplanning.
  • Proven leadership in cultivating a proactivesafety-first culture.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance,including ABSA, AER, OH&S, and environmental legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonalskills.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and start-upprocesses is a strong asset.
