Sunshine Village Corporation is seeking a Facilities Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight for the resort’s buildings, electrical systems, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities

  • Lead budgets, asset condition reviews, staffing, projects, and annual capital recommendations.
  • Oversee inspections and maintenance programs across resort properties and offices.
  • Coordinate with HR on recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations (OHS, AHS, Codes, National Parks Act).
  • Maintain inventories, schedules, and work orders; communicate operating conditions.

Job description

The Facilities Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the resort’s buildings, electrical systems, and associated infrastructure. The position is accountable for maintaining safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient facilities that support employees, resort operations, and the guest experience. This role reports to the VP of Operations and Maintenance. The Facilities Manager liaises and coordinates frequently with all departments, vendors, contractors, inspectors, and manufacturers.

Job Functions

Managing budgets, asset conditions, staffing, project work, developing annual capital recommendations, and undertaking and ensuring timely scheduled and urgent inspections are completed, primarily at the Resort, while supporting additional company offices (Banff Transportation Hub, Calgary Snow Central Sales Office). Taking an active role when required for work performed by responsible departments, along with overseeing and managing the actions of team members in those departments.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and timely completion of documentation e.g., worksite inspections, work orders/PM records, employee training, safe work plans.
  • Maintaining effective and complete inventories.
  • Maintaining effective schedules and properly assigning department tasks.
  • Communicating unusual operating conditions e.g., mechanical, operational, environmental.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, employee development, scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary processes in coordination with Human Resources and Company policy.
  • Effectively communicate, support, and adhere to all initiatives, policy/procedures, regulations, and certifications e.g., OHS, AHS, Regulations and Codes, National Parks Act and Regulations.

Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.

Experience/Requirements
  • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, initiative, sound judgement, leadership ability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience in areas such as HVAC, Construction, Electrical are assets.
  • Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours
  • Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions e.g., appropriate footwear, layers, gloves
  • Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally and in a confidential capacity.
  • Maintain professional conduct when acting as a company representative on or off duty.
  • Effectively provide training, support, and assistance.
  • Willing and able to perform all duties and departmental tasks.
  • Conduct, attend and actively participate in meetings and training inside and outside of department.
  • Must be neat, alert, punctual and dependable.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence and ability to meet company driver authorization requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and electronic maintenance/work management systems.
Additional Considerations
  • Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
  • This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, constant trunk rotation, frequent lifting (up to 25kg), pushing/pulling (up to 45kg), kneeling, crouching. Occasionally climb ladders or inclined stairs up to 5m. Must be able to hike and move around easily in an alpine environment.
  • Able to operate on/off highway vehicles, other industrial equipment, hand tools and equipment
  • This role operates and works around machinery, moving equipment, pressurized and electrical systems.
  • This role handles sensitive, confidential Company information, and the ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality is always required.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard is not required. skiing or snowboarding for work requires completion of a competency test, skiing and riding professionally, and is restricted to designated runs. Skiing or snowboarding equipment used for work must be in good operating condition, meet Sunshine Village Equipment requirements, and will be tested throughout the season.
  • Uniform pieces (liner, outer jacket, outer pants, toque, collared shirt) are provided. Candidates are required to provide CSA approved safety footwear.
  • This role has potential exposure to industrial chemicals/agents/sewage e.g., solvents, oils, grease, chlorine, acids, human waste.
