Job summary

The William Lutsky Family YMCA is seeking a dedicated Facility Attendant to perform general cleaning and maintenance across the centre. This full-time role offers 40 hours per week and includes benefits. Applicants must be available to work until 12 AM and on weekends.

Responsibilities include routine cleaning, stock management of supplies, and assisting members and staff. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team are essential.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Police information check and Vulnerable sector check required/obtainable.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively.
• Works well with a team in a customer service capacity.
• Able to speak and write easily and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks and log requirements as assigned.
• Circulate and spot clean change rooms and common areas every 30 minutes.
• Complete daily deep cleaning in wet shower areas after hours.
• Ensure supplies (paper, soap, toiletries) are stocked.
• Keep program areas and locker rooms tidy and restocked with towels.
• Communicate inventory needs for supplies.
• Build positive relationships with staff and volunteers.
• Assist members and respond to inquiries.
• Report issues to Duty Manager and secure building after shifts.

About the Role

The Facility Attendant follows safe cleaning practices while delivering high-quality cleaning and general maintenance to the centre.

This position is full-time working 40 hours per week and includes benefits. Applicants must be available to work until 12AM and on weekends.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery

• Perform general maintenance duties or log requirements as assigned.
• Circulate and spot clean the change rooms and common areas every 30 minutes, making sure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of debris.
• Complete daily deep cleaning in wet shower areas after hours
• Ensure paper, soap, toiletries, and health beauty supplies are fully stocked.
• Ensure program areas and locker rooms are tidy, collect dirty towels from locker room and restock towels in plus locker room.
• Communicate any supplies needed to maintain inventory as needed.
• Build and maintain good interpersonal staff and volunteer relationships.
• Answer questions and support members in need of assistance.
• Report to Duty Manager any inappropriate member behaviour or facility issue.
• Ensure building is secured at the end of shift

Health and Safety

• Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following YMCA Health Safety Child Protection, Emergency Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure safe, proper use of equipment and chemicals according to safe work practices and regulatory documentation.
• Inspect and monitor equipment daily and complete any maintenance and cleaning checklist duties. Inform the Coordinator or Duty Manager if repairs are needed.
• Ensure a safe environment for all clients, staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Previous cleaning and/or janitorial experience is an asset.
• Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-C.
• Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively.
• Works well with team in a customer service capacity.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to speak and write easily and accurately.
