Job summary

YMCA of Northern Alberta in Edmonton is seeking a Facility Attendant to help keep the centre clean and well maintained. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with availability for weekends and after-hours as needed.

You will follow safe cleaning practices, stock supplies, assist members, and partner with the Duty Manager to ensure a welcoming, safe environment for all staff and visitors.

This position includes benefits and a supportive team dedicated to community health and inclusion.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Previous cleaning/janitorial experience is an asset.
• First Aid & CPR-C certification is required or obtainable.
• Able to obtain Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic technology.
• Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
• Excellent written and spoken communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance duties and report needs to supervisor.
• Circulate and clean change rooms and common areas regularly.
• Deep clean wet shower areas after hours.
• Maintain stock of paper products, soap, and supplies.
• Support members and answer questions.
• Ensure building security at end of shift.

About the Role

The Facility Attendant follows safe cleaning practices while delivering high-quality cleaning and general maintenance to the centre.

This position is full-time working 40 hours per week and includes benefits. Applicants must be available to work until 12AM and on weekends.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery

• Perform general maintenance duties or log requirements as assigned.
• Circulate and spot clean the change rooms and common areas every 30 minutes, making sure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of debris.
• Complete daily deep cleaning in wet shower areas after hours
• Ensure paper, soap, toiletries, and health beauty supplies are fully stocked.
• Ensure program areas and locker rooms are tidy, collect dirty towels from locker room and restock towels in plus locker room.
• Communicate any supplies needed to maintain inventory as needed.
• Build and maintain good interpersonal staff and volunteer relationships.
• Answer questions and support members in need of assistance.
• Report to Duty Manager any inappropriate member behaviour or facility issue.
• Ensure building is secured at the end of shift

Health and Safety

• Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following YMCA Health Safety Child Protection, Emergency Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure safe, proper use of equipment and chemicals according to safe work practices and regulatory documentation.
• Inspect and monitor equipment daily and complete any maintenance and cleaning checklist duties. Inform the Coordinator or Duty Manager if repairs are needed.
• Ensure a safe environment for all clients, staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Previous cleaning and/or janitorial experience is an asset.
• Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-C.
• Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively.
• Works well with team in a customer service capacity.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to speak and write easily and accurately.
