Job summary

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the facilities at 100 Reagens Industrial Parkway and 105 Reagens Industrial Parkway in Bradford, ON. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of the facilities, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.

In this role you will be responsible for:

1. Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to HVAC filter change, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building repairs such as floor patch/repair, wall painting, installation/removal work.

2. Equipment Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to identify and address issues proactively.

3. Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment, systems, or structures, and troubleshoot issues reported by staff.

4. Safety Compliance: Ensure facilities comply with safety and environmental regulations, implementing necessary measures to maintain a safe working environment. Experienced working at heights, fall arrest/harness, crane lift for lifting supplies/equipment to elevated platform/rooftop.

5. Custodial Duties: Assist with basic custodial duties such as cleaning common areas and exterior building perimeter, restrooms, and maintaining a tidy appearance of the facilities. Attend to roof leaks and install diverter/tarp to collect water under an active leak.

6. Security Support: Collaborate with security personnel to implement and maintain security measures for the facilities.

7. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, participating in drills and ensuring preparedness for unforeseen incidents.

8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs. Must have knowledge and experience with CMMS software for receiving and completing corrective and preventative maintenance work.

9. Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs/maintenance projects and regular PM work

10.Supplies and Inventory Management: Must be able to drive a forklift and have valid license to operate forklift, and able to operate other material handling equipment such as electric reach truck.

11. Work Schedule: Other duties as assigned and be able to work different shifts to meet business needs

Accountabilities:

1. Facility Functionality: Accountable for maintaining the functionality of facilities and ensuring a safe working environment.

2. Preventive Maintenance: Accountable for executing preventive maintenance schedules and addressing issues before they become critical.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of tools and equipment related to facilities maintenance, including knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair work.

Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.

Safety Awareness: Thorough understanding of safety protocols and the ability to promote a culture of safety within the organization.

Communication: Effective communication skills to interact with staff, vendors, and management.

Education and Experience:

3+ years’ experience in Facilities type maintenance (Trades license not necessary but work experience must compensate for that)

Comfortable with interpreting building, electrical and mechanical drawings

Understanding of the general workflow of large scale HVAC systems

Consider themselves a “general handyperson” as it relates to work and tools

Able to operate both forklifts and scissor & boom lifts

Must have valid driver’s license

Ability to prioritize tasks and use time effectively

Ability to establish business relationships with key contractors/suppliers, and stakeholders

Strong interpersonal and communication skills within a multi-disciplinary team and diverse internal and external customers/suppliers

Able to follow and uphold standard operating procedures precisely and consistently; accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations.

Able to respond to complex situations/competing interests and resolving issues quickly and positively

Operational excellence and continuous improvement oriented; safety minded and able to always follow strict safety protocols.
