Job summary

Stratford Hall is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform building and property repairs across all campuses. The role covers light bus maintenance, event setup, and general upkeep to ensure safety, cleanliness, and functionality of facilities, grounds, and equipment.

The candidate will join the facilities team, contributing to HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and preventative maintenance while collaborating with vendors and campus staff. Training and safety compliance are emphasized.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Timely completion of repair and maintenance tasks across Stratford Hall campuses.
  • Support for event setups and tear-downs; transport equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Maintenance, repairs, refinishing, and installation of equipment, fixtures, furniture and surfaces.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and assist cleaners as needed.
  • Repair plumbing fixtures, heaters, pumps, and address drain/ toilet blockages.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and keep records.
  • Work with a DDC system and perform basic electrical work (ballasts, fixtures, outlets, switches).
  • Ensure staff and student safety through patrols and daily area checks.
  • Report unsafe equipment to Facilities Manager; assist with snow removal and seasonal landscaping.
  • Support bus routes and field trips; light bus maintenance as needed.

Job description

Salary Range: $60,000.00 To $65,000.00 Annually

Department: Operations

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Interfaces with: Vendors, Students, Staff, and the entire school Community

Term of contract : Permanent

Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000 Annually

Position Rationale and Goal:

The Maintenance Technician performs regular building and property repairs and maintenance, light bus maintenance and event setup and support across all of the school campuses. The successful individual will be an integral part of the facilities team and will help ensure the safety, cleanliness and functionality of buildings, grounds, furniture, equipment, mechanical systems and buses. Qualifications and Experience:

Strong communication skills both written and verbal

General computer skills, knowledge of Google Drive, MS Office

Ability to solve problems independently

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Exercise good judgment to complete tasks in house or bring in external service providers

Certification in scissor lift, fall arrest and WHIMIS

Level 1 First Aid certification

Able to perform physical work including bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 60lbs

Experienced with using and maintaining hand and power tools

A solid understanding of plumbing, electrical and carpentry techniques and methods

Class 2 unrestricted Driver’s license preferred

Experience in a role with similar duties and responsibilities

Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

Able to respond to emergency situations and troubleshoot problems.

Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Able to be flexible, self-motivated and take initiative

Key Responsibilities

Timely completion of repair and maintenance assignments throughout the Stratford Hall Campus

Providing support for event setups and tear downs. Transporting equipment, furniture, and supplies across Campus as needed

Assist with maintenance, construction, repairs, refinishing, and installation of equipment, fixtures, furniture and surfaces

Ensuring cleanliness of the facilities, assisting the cleaners as needed

Maintain and assist with repairs to general plumbing fixtures, heaters, pumps, including drain and toilet blockages

Perform basic preventive maintenance and checks to HVAC, plumbing, electrical and complete and maintain related records in a maintenance log

Working with a DDC system

Basic Electrical repairs and installations: including but not limited to, ballasts/light fixtures/outlets/switches

Prioritizing safety of staff and students through patrolling buildings and grounds, daily sweeps of neighboring parks, sidewalks and Staff parking stalls

Report on unsafe and faulty equipment to Facilities Manager

Power washing and cleaning of hard surfaces, structures and equipment

Wall repair, painting and graffiti removal

Assist with traffic control

Assist with performing fire drills and emergency preparedness

Performing snow removal, salting and other seasonal landscaping responsibilities

Coverage for student bus routes and field trips

Perform light maintenance to buses, including but not limited to: headlight/tail light replacement, fluid levels, filter changes

Other duties as assigned
