Job summary

G&W Canada Corporation is seeking a Facilities Maintenance technician to maintain the safety, functionality, and appearance of facility infrastructure and grounds. The role includes preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical disciplines.

The position requires 3–5 years of facilities maintenance experience, forklift operation, and strong record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Post‑secondary education in Facilities Maintenance, Building Operations, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field is an asset.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environments.
  • Experience with basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrated experience operating forklifts in an industrial environment.

  • Perform routine inspections of facility infrastructure, building systems, and equipment to identify maintenance requirements.
  • Complete preventative maintenance activities to ensure reliability of facility assets.
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems including lighting, doors, plumbing, HVAC components, and general facility equipment.
  • Maintain facility appearance and functionality through general upkeep and repair activities.
  • Coordinate and communicate with third‑party contractors and vendors to ensure safe, effective work.

Job description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Maintenance will be responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, reliability, and appearance of facility infrastructure, equipment, and grounds. This hands‑on role performs preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs across a variety of disciplines, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, and general building maintenance activities. This is a key role in ensuring a safe, compliant, efficient, and well‑maintained facility while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.

  • Perform routine inspections of facility infrastructure, building systems, and equipment to identify maintenance requirements.
  • Complete preventative maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and longevity of facility assets.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on building systems, including lighting, doors, plumbing fixtures, HVAC components, and general facility equipment.
  • Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs as required.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
  • Maintain facility appearance and functionality through general upkeep and repair activities
  • Assist in the implementation of waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, and water conservation programs.
  • Support environmental compliance requirements and company environmental objectives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, and contractor documentation
  • Coordinate and communicate with third‑party contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure work is completed safely and effectively.
  • Schedule contractor activities and provide facility access as required
  • Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment to support facility maintenance activities
  • Perform all work in accordance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions
  • Help manage Hazardous and Non‑Hazardous waste.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Post‑secondary education in Facilities Maintenance, Building Operations, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or a related field is considered an asset
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environments.
  • Proven experience performing preventative maintenance and general facility repairs.
  • Experience with basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrated experience operating forklifts in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, work orders, and maintenance documentation
  • Self-motivated and dependable who can manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • Hands‑on with strong mechanical aptitude
  • Professional and customer‑service oriented when interacting with employees, contractors, and other third parties.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions:
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment and perform physically demanding maintenance tasks. (Forklift, Crane, and other equipment) Certification will be provided in house.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions

Pay Range is typically between $23.14 to $31.51 per hour
