Job summary

Shared Health seeks a senior facilities leader to oversee Facilities Management for the HealthCare Centre of Excellence and related sites in Manitoba. The role emphasizes strategic operations, safety, and asset management to support patient care.

You will manage a unionized workforce, coordinate maintenance and logistics, travel across the service area, and drive LEADS-based leadership, with on-call duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Facilities Management team and operations.
• Coordinate support functions including maintenance logistics, safety training, and HR matters.
• Oversee unionized workforce management and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Travel across the service area for site evaluations and project delivery.
• Prepare for on-call duties as required and ensure operational readiness.

This position is for the HealthCare Centre of Excellence and will begin to be located at HSC and will eventually be located at the Health Care Centre of Excellence on Portage Avenue. This position may be on call but TBD.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Experience

• 5 years of progressive management experience preferably in healthcare environment including:
  • 5 years of experience building and leading a high performing a team.
  • 2 years of experience with specifically dealing with the coordination of support functions such as: maintenance logistics; technical, safety and fire safety training; and human resource management.
  • 2 years of experience managing in a unionized environment.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• A post-secondary degree in a related discipline from an accredited educational institution.
• Facilities management certificate/diploma or certification is an asset.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
• Project management or change management certification is an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated senior leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to accompany staff to work at heights, within small spaces and to climb, reach, kneel, and squat to examine facilities related issues.
• Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings around the facilities throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 15-23 kg.
• Interruptions to respond to questions are common; schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.
• Regular travel throughout the service area requiring a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
