Qualifications

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Facilities Management, Asset Management, Business Administration, Building Sciences, Information Systems, or related field is required, or equivalent, as approved by the Board.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facility operations, asset planning, business analysis, capital project coordination, construction administration, or infrastructure renewal.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with facility condition assessments, lifecycle analysis, asset inventories, and capital renewal planning.
  • Knowledge of building systems, construction practices, operations and maintenance methods.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Administering the Community Use of School program.
  • Supervision of the Facility Services Projects and Rental Clerk.
  • Lead and maintain a service quality system.
  • Conduct operational reviews and audits of facility services procedures and practices.
  • Collect, analyze, and report operational performance and service quality data.
  • Coordinate information system requirements and business process initiatives for Facility Services.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, key performance indicators, and data analytics tools.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a Board asset management program.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to, and documented success in, working to create a fair, inclusive, antiracist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Facility Services.

The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from qualified, team-oriented individuals for the forty (40) hour per week, full time, non-bargaining position of Facility Services Officer within the Facility Services Department.

Job Summary

POSITION: Facilities Services Officer

START DATE: As soon as possible

LOCATION: Facility Services Department

SALARY: $100,791 to $118,573

Nature & Scope Of Position

Reporting to the Manager of Facility Services, and as an integral member of the Facility Services supervisory team, the Facility Services Officer provides leadership and technical expertise in asset planning, operational excellence, construction administration support, service quality assurance, information systems coordination, and community use of schools. The position works collaboratively with internal departments, school administrators, contractors, consultants and external agencies to support the efficient stewardship of Board facilities and infrastructure. The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Administering the Community Use of School program.
  • Supervision of the Facility Services Projects and Rental Clerk.
  • Lead and maintain a service quality system.
  • Conduct operational reviews and audits of facility services procedures and practices.

Working Conditions
  • Must have access to transportation throughout Windsor and Essex County.
  • Frequent travel between Board locations.
  • Regular site visits to schools and construction sites.
  • Occasional attendance outside normal working hours.
  • Participation in emergency response activities as required.
Qualifications
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Facilities Management, Asset Management, Business Administration, Building Sciences, Information Systems, or a related field is required, or equivalent, as approved by the Board.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facility operations, asset planning, business analysis, capital project coordination, construction administration, or infrastructure renewal.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with facility condition assessments, lifecycle analysis, asset inventories, and capital renewal planning.
  • Knowledge of building systems, construction practices, operations and maintenance methods.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Blue Beam, Ebase, or asset management platforms, an asset.
  • Experience in public sector or educational facilities, an asset.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies, an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
