Job summary

Canadian North is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician 1 to support the Facilities team in Ottawa, ensuring safe and functional environments for occupants. The role covers patching, repairs, and upkeep across building systems, grounds, and spaces.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week. Compensation: $19.51–$24.71 per hour with overtime per GAFAE Collective Agreement. Starting salary determined by equity, qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent related work experience
• One (1) year of previous experience
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
• Possess and maintain valid Drivers License
• Must hold a valid Driver's License
• Must be able to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
• Provide a medical certificate indicating the ability to perform physical labour related duties (on request)

Responsibilities

• General building maintenance including patching/wall repair and hardware/signs
• General grounds maintenance for safe access
• Shipping/receiving of supplies/goods
• Assembling furniture and minor repairs
• Electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs
• Plumbing repairs such as leaking faucets
• HVAC repairs such as cleaning/changing filters
• Escort contractors
• Fire/Life/Safety inspections and records
