Job summary

The Salvation Army Winnipeg Booth Centre is seeking a qualified maintenance worker to perform repairs and installations, maintain building systems, and supervise safety procedures. You will work with various trades, manage preventative maintenance, and ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.

You will inspect and repair electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, maintain building exteriors and grounds, and assist with inventory and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent or three years’ experience in a related environment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, NVCI training is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License in Good Standing.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and if required, install plumbing fixtures such as taps, sinks, and toilets.
  • Where possible, performs mechanical and electrical repairs to equipment such as kitchen equipment, clothes washers and dryers, dishwashers, light fixtures, etc.
  • Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment, recommends repairs and purchases as required.
  • Monitors and adjusts heating, temperature controls for facility and water, ventilating and air conditioning systems by operating the facility’s control systems.
  • Maintains a safe living and working environment through compliance with policies and procedures, rules and regulations governing facility safety and safety in the workplace.
  • Contact various trades’ people for various contracts/quotes as required.
  • Record maintenance and repair work performed using applicable forms.
  • Reproduce keys using key cutting machine.
