Job summary

The University of Toronto Scarborough is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform heavy cleaning, custodial duties, and furniture moves. You will assist with routine floor care, room setups for classes and events, and ensure equipment is properly configured and maintained.

Strong communication in English and the ability to lift heavy items, climb stairs, and follow safety procedures are essential. This role offers weekday hours 12:30 pm–9:00 pm and a budget-continuing appointment.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent; technical training is desirable.
• One year of related work experience; education may be substituted for experience.
• Physical ability to perform duties including heavy lifting and walking; ability to follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Clean floors and washrooms using appropriate equipment.
• Set up cleaning equipment and maintain it.
• Move and set up furniture and equipment according to work orders.
• Perform routine and special room setups; open/lock doors as needed.
• Assist with event setup and maintain safety procedures.
