Job summary

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited in Calgary, AB seeks a Facilities & Maintenance Specialist to lead preventative maintenance for facilities, GSE, tooling and site assets. You will coordinate maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and work with contractors to keep operations safe and efficient.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, mechanical/ electrical knowledge and the ability to collaborate with teams across Production, Manufacturing and Finance.

Position Summary

The Facilities & Maintenance Specialist is the focal point for facilities support, general maintenance, production Ground Support Equipment (GSE), tooling, and other site equipment. This position is responsible for developing and coordinating preventative maintenance programs, responding to facility and equipment issues, managing service and repair vendors, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to operations.

The role requires a practical understanding of building systems, industrial equipment, GSE, and general maintenance practices. The successful candidate will troubleshoot and resolve issues within their qualifications and coordinate with specialized contractors or service providers when required.

The Facilities & Maintenance Specialist will work closely with Production, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Materials, Supply Chain, Finance, Health and Safety, Security, and Logistics/Transportation teams within DHC.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance programs for facilities, building systems, production equipment, GSE, tooling, and other site assets.
  • Coordinate routine and corrective maintenance for building systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, grounds, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Support the maintenance, inspection, servicing, and repair of GSE and associated production tooling.
  • Respond to facility and equipment issues that may affect safety, production, employee comfort, or business continuity.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues and complete necessary repairs to restore equipment to safe, reliable operating condition
  • Escalate specialized work and coordinate on-site repairs with qualified contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Support facility improvement projects, equipment installations, site modifications, renovations, and operational moves as required.
  • Support compliance with applicable health and safety, environmental, fire protection, building, and company requirements.
  • Assist with emergency maintenance situations and participate in after-hours support when operationally required.
  • Track maintenance and facilities expenditures and provide monthly reporting on budget performance and other relevant metrics.
  • Perform other facilities, equipment, and general maintenance duties as required to support site operations.
Education and Professional Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in facilities, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, aerospace, GSE, or a related environment.
  • Mechanical, electrical, building systems, or skilled-trade certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and workplace safety practices.
  • Familiarity with ERP or maintenance-management systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience in aerospace or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
