Job summary

McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes seeks a practical Maintenance Technician to join our team. This hands-on role supports multiple locations and requires discretion around families and services.

You will perform general repairs, drywall, painting, carpentry, minor plumbing, moving equipment, and sourcing parts while ensuring safety and smooth operations across sites.

Qualifications

  • Experience with general maintenance and repairs; 2+ years preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement practical fixes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.
  • Comfort with basic digital tools (email, Teams) for communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs not requiring a trade (drywall, painting, doors, fixtures, minor plumbing).
  • Repair and maintain furniture, office equipment, and building components.
  • Troubleshoot issues and source appropriate parts through local vendors.
  • Move and relocate furniture, inventory, and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain grounds, exterior features, and seasonal property upkeep.
  • Identify safety concerns and address or report them.

Weare looking for a practical, dependable and resourceful Maintenance Technicianto join our team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety, knowstheir way around general repairs and maintenance, and is comfortable figuringout solutions when the answer isn't immediately obvious.

OurMaintenance team supports multiple funeral home locations, which means no twodays look quite the same. You might be repairing drywall or a door one day,troubleshooting a building issue the next, maintaining exterior spaces, movingequipment, sourcing a replacement part, or dealing with something nobodyexpected to break that morning.

Becauseof the environment we work in, there's another important part of the job:knowing what's happening around you. Our buildings remain active whilemaintenance work is being completed, often with funeral services and familiespresent. You'll need to work efficiently while also knowing when the situationcalls for discretion, flexibility and a quieter approach.

WhatYou'll Do

Yourresponsibilities will include:

  • Completinggeneral building maintenance and repairs that do not require a specializedtrade, including drywall repair, painting, doors, fixtures and minorplumbing.
  • Repairingand maintaining furniture, office equipment and other building components.
  • Troubleshootingmaintenance issues and determining practical repair solutions.
  • Identifyingand sourcing appropriate parts, materials and supplies through localvendors.
  • Movingand relocating furniture, inventory and equipment as required.
  • Maintaininggrounds, parking areas, fountains and exterior features.
  • Completingseasonal property maintenance, including early-morning snow and iceremoval across our locations to ensure entrances, walkways and otherrequired areas are safe and ready before families and guests arrive.
  • Identifyingpotential building or property safety concerns and addressing or reportingthem appropriately.
  • Prioritizingwork across multiple locations based on urgency, operational needs and theneeds of the families we serve.
  • Recognizingwhen a repair is within your abilities and when the right solution is toinvolve a specialized trade.
  • Performingother operational duties required to support the the families we serve.
WhatWe’re Looking For

We'relooking for someone with solid general maintenance knowledge who is comfortableworking independently and solving problems as they come up.

Youshould have:

  • Experiencewith general maintenance, carpentry, painting, minor plumbing and generalrepairs; 2+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Strongpractical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Theability to organize your work independently while adjusting prioritieswhen something more urgent comes up.
  • Goodsituational awareness and the ability to adapt your work to an active,changing environment.
  • Theability to follow direction and work collaboratively with other members ofthe Maintenance team and leadership.
  • Basiccomfort using email, Microsoft Teams and other digital tools used forday-to-day communication.
  • Aprofessional, respectful approach when working around employees, guestsand families.
  • Aredependable, punctual and prepared to work when your shift begins.
  • Adaptwell when circumstances, priorities or timelines change unexpectedly.
  • Understandthat no task is unimportant when it contributes to providing anexceptional experience for a family.
TheImportant Stuff

Thisis a physically active position. You must be able to regularly bend, twist,reach, pull, push and stoop, and safely move, lift, carry, push, pull and placeobjects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Drivingbetween company locations is a regular part of the position. You must have:

  • Acurrent Class 5 non-GDL driver's license.
  • Adriver's abstract with six or fewer demerits
  • Continuousinsurance coverage for a minimum of the past three years, with no gaps incoverage
  • Abilityto successfully complete a background/security clearance.
Schedule& Compensation

Thisis a full-time, permanent, year-round position working 37.5 hours per week.

  • Startingwage: $27.00/hour
  • Mondayto Friday
  • Winterhours: 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Summerhours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Occasionalweekend and overtime work may be required.
  • After-hoursemergency calls may occasionally be required.

Foremployees interested in additional work, our Piecework Program providesopportunities to voluntarily take on additional shifts and earn abovetime-and-a-half for those hours.
