Reporting to: Facilities Manager

Job status: Permanent Part-time 0.8 FTE (60 hours bi-weekly, Sunday through Wednesday)

Compensation: $57,622-$62,333

YOUR ROLE

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position supports our facilities and grounds teams year-round. We seek a well-rounded individual with experience in lawn care, general gardening, grounds, and building maintenance.

This individual will assist our dedicated gardener at Glen Brae in Vancouver with maintaining lawns and garden spaces, collaborating with departments to host donors, events, and garden visits. The role involves supporting the garden volunteer program, hosting corporate volunteer groups of up to 12 people, and providing vacation and sick coverage at both Vancouver (Glen Brae) and Abbotsford (Dave Lede House) locations. A collaborative personality with effective communication and emotional intelligence is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Grounds Work – Glen Brae (25%)

  • Lawn care, leaf collection, paver repair, pressure washing, grounds maintenance
  • Irrigation system maintenance
  • Fence, outbuilding, and furniture repair and painting
  • Snow removal and salt application
  • Maintenance of garden equipment

Facilities Team Support (50%)

  • Assist with installing/removing holiday lights, seasonal decorations, and event setups
  • Help with small repairs, re-lamping, and contacting service providers for urgent issues
  • Support interior projects during off-season or bad weather
  • Assist with renovations, painting, repairs, furniture setup, and recycling/disposal
  • Support emergent events to ensure safety and functionality

Vacation & Sick Coverage (24%)

  • Provide coverage during planned or unplanned absences at both locations

Other related responsibilities as assigned (1%)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent, with related experience or training.

QUALIFICATIONS

What you bring:

  • 5+ years of facility or grounds-related experience (preferred)
  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, online research
  • General repair skills; mechanical aptitude is an asset

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
