Job summary

BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. (BWXT NEC) is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to support maintenance operations in Peterborough, on-site.

You will assist the Facilities Supervisor with planning, coordination, and execution of facility upkeep across multiple sites and ensure safety, compliance, and efficient performance. The role emphasizes coordination of contractors, documentation, budgeting support, and involvement in preventive maintenance programs.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, building operations, construction, or related field.
  • Post-secondary education or technical training in facility management would be an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with multitasking ability.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholders, vendors, and contractors.
  • Intermediate use of MS Office and digital maintenance systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Facilities Supervisor in planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance activities.
  • Support building infrastructure projects, including documentation and on-site coordination.
  • Monitor HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems; escalate issues as needed.

The Facilities Coordinator supports the Facilities Supervisor in maintaining building infrastructure,equipment reliability, and asset management across BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. ("BWXT NEC")locations in Peterborough, Arnprior, Oakville, and Toronto. This role assists with day-to-day facility operations, contractor coordination, preventive maintenance activities, and compliance with site
standards and regulations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility performance.

This position is onsite in Peterborough, Ontario.

Your Day to Day:
  • Assist the Facilities Supervisor in planning, coordinating, and executing facility maintenance andrepair activities.
  • Support building infrastructure projects and initiatives, including preparation of documentation,scheduling, and on-site coordination.
  • Monitor and help maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, escalatingissues to the Facilities Supervisor as required.
  • Assist in implementing and tracking preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime andensure equipment readiness.
  • Support the contractor management program, including onboarding, compliance checks, andwork verification.
  • Provide administrative support for facilities budgeting, cost tracking, and purchase requisitions.
  • Perform routine facility inspections and document findings related to safety, compliance,maintenance needs, or building condition.
  • Assist in ensuring all facilities meet regulatory, health, safety, and environmental requirements,following applicable standards and codes.
  • Support production, safety, and EHS-related concerns by helping gather information, participatingin troubleshooting, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Assist Facilities Supervisor with data collection, layouts, and logistical support for feasibilitystudies or facility rearrangement initiatives.
  • Support Cleaning team and contractors with scheduling, task coordination, and communication ofexpectations, as assigned.
  • Coordinate contractors/vendors for services such as waste removal, HVAC maintenance,inspections, emergency lighting, and equipment servicing.
  • Maintain records, logs, compliance documentation, and facility-related documentation systems.
  • Input purchase requests using JDE and monitor procurement documents to end of life cycle.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, building operations, construction, or a relatedtechnical field.
  • Post-secondary education or technical training in facility management, building systems, trades,or a comparable discipline would be an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, general construction, and mechanical equipmentwould be an asset.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks andrespond to changing priorities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal stakeholders, vendors, andcontractors.
  • Intermediate use of MS Office and digital maintenance systems.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and facility compliance requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation or equipment manuals.
  • Experience coordinating or observing trades/contractors.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $68,000 and $90,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
