Qualifications

  • Understanding of and compassion for individuals with mental health concerns and/or substance use.
  • Warm, sensitive and caring approach.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and support residents.
  • Experience in property management, maintenance, or facility operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in property management, maintenance, or facility operations.
  • Proficiency with tools and equipment.
  • Recent PVSC with Indwell acceptable; cost covered by applicant.
  • First Aid & CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance and repair needs throughout Indwell’s buildings in Hamilton.
  • Document work orders and update status in Yardi (Indwell’s property management software).
  • Perform repairs, upgrades and cleaning for turnover readiness.
  • Respond to emergencies through on-call rotation.
  • Complete regularly scheduled building inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with program staff to support residents/tenants with trauma-informed care.
  • Coordinate material pickup and delivery from suppliers.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to tenant employees and janitorial staff, if applicable.

Position Description: Reporting to the Regional Facilities Manager, as the Facilities Coordinator, you will assist in the maintenance and operations of buildings in Hamilton. In collaboration with our interdisciplinary teams, you will work within programs supporting residents who are experiencing mental health concerns and/or substance use and who require supports to maintain housing stability. Stewarding resources to ensure high standards of quality in our infrastructure, sites and services while maintaining strong working relationships with program staff and tenants alike. This position will require a high level of resilience and willingness to work in close proximity to challenging situations.

Hours of Work: Full Time- 40hours per week, primarily weekdays. Participation in the on-call 24/7 rotation schedule is required every 4-6 weeks.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Responding to maintenance and repair needs throughout Indwell’s buildings in Hamilton
  • Documentingwork orders, updating status and completion dates as requiredin Yardi(Indwell’sproperty management software)
  • Performingrepairs,upgradesand cleaning to ensure that vacated apartments are ready for new tenantsas part of turnoverprocess
  • Responding to emergency situations (fire, flood, etc) through participation in an on-call rotation
  • Completingregularly scheduled building inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Collaborating with program staff as part of the interdisciplinary team to support residents/tenants through creative problem solving, trauma-informed care, and relationship building
  • Performing tasks such as painting, drywall patching, repairs to plumbing and electricalfixtures
  • Coordinating pick-upand delivery of materials from suppliers
  • Providing mentorship & supervision support to tenant employees and janitorial staff, if applicable
  • Developing and maintaining partnership with relevant contractors and vendors
  • Being aware of and following all agency policies andprocedures
  • Additional duties asassigned

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • A basic understanding of and compassion for individuals who have experiencedmental health concerns and/or substance use
  • A warm, sensitive, and caring approach
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and have a genuine interest in supporting people living with mental health concerns and/or substance use
  • Relevant experience in trades,construction,or property maintenance
  • 5+years of experiencein property management, maintenance, or facility operations
  • Proficiency in using a variety of tools and equipment
  • Recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with the information therein acceptable by Indwell to meet the operational requirements of the program- at one’s own cost
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR Certification from an approved provider that meets Ontario provincial standards or willingness to register for the training within 30 days of employment-reimbursement by Indwell
  • Effective communication via various means (i.e.phone, email,office 365 suite)
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, walk,andlift heavy objects (up to 25 kilograms)as work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather
  • A team player who is committed to upholding and modeling the standards set out in the organization’s Mission Statement and other operating standards and policies
  • Ability to work independently, have strong problem-solving skills, be flexible, organized, responsible, and take initiative
  • Comfort with appropriate sharps disposal and training in biohazard clean-up are considered to be assets
  • A Valid “G” class driver’s license and access to vehicle
