Job summary

YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is seeking a part-time YMAP London Program Facilitator to support newcomer youth leadership and integration. The role is in-person in London with a Monday-Thursday afternoon schedule and a maximum of 15 hours per week.

You will assist in delivering group programming and provide essential settlement services, including information, orientation, and advocacy, while maintaining safety and engagement for youth. End date is March 31, 2027, with a salary of $18.95 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Child and Youth Worker, Sport and Recreation, or related area.
  • Experience working with youth is an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet.
  • Experience facilitating youth group sessions is an asset.
  • Familiar with newcomer youth services is an asset.
  • Comfortable using public transportation.
  • Current CPR and First Aid.
  • Fluency in English; an additional language is an asset.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Strong communication in group settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Current Criminal Record Check with VSS is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering the Newcomer Youth Leadership and Integration Program (YMAP) in YMCA facilities and community settings.
  • Provide a safe, engaging environment for youth to gain skills for successful integration in Canada.
  • Support the program settlement advisor with needs assessments, referrals, interpretation, and counseling.
  • Complete administrative tasks; follow attendance, health, safety, and emergency procedures.

Position: YMAP London Program Facilitator - Contract , Part Time
Location: London
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: March 31st, 2027 (conditional on funding)
Salary: $ 18.95/hour
Scheduling :
  • Maximum of 15 hours a week
  • In person
  • Must be available Monday to Thursday
  • Afternoons required up until 6pm
  • Occasional mornings and evening
  • Occasional Fridays and weekends
  • Scheduling hours may vary based on need
  • Occasional Fridays, evenings and weekends

In this role, you will:
    • Assists in the delivery of the Newcomer Youth Leadership and Integration Program-YMAP by; supporting during the facilitation of co-ed and gender-specific group programming, activities, workshops, and events both in the YMCA facilities and out in the community.
    • Will provide a safe and engaging environment for all youth to gain valuable skills and knowledge to aid in their successful integration and settlement in Canada.
    • Assist as required the program settlement advisor by; providing essential settlement services i.e., needs assessment, information, orientation, referral, interpretation, translation, advocacy, and solution-focused counselling, in order to maximize the potential for successful integration into Canadian life and society.
    • Complete administrative tasks when required; follow attendance protocols, health, and safety expectations, have knowledge of emergency procedures and Child Protection Policy Work.
Education & Skills Qualifications:
    • Post-Secondary Degree in Child and Youth Worker, Sport and Recreation, and/or any related area
    • Experience working with youth as an asset
    • Proficiency in using online digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet
    • Experience facilitating youth group sessions is an asset
    • Familiar with newcomer youth services is an asset
    • Comfortable using public transportation
    • Current CPR and First Aid
    • Fluency in English and an additional language an asset
    • Experience working with diverse populations
    • Comfortable and effective communication in group situations
