Job summary

Alberta Health Services invites applications for a Tumour Group Facilitator within the Guidance & Resource Unit (GURU). The role collaborates across Cancer Care Alberta to develop tools and pathways, translate evidence, and support clinical practice improvements.

Hybrid work and provincial scope are available, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder partnerships and knowledge translation. The successful candidate will lead evidence-based resource development, evaluation of clinical practice

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a health-related field (e.g., public health, clinical epidemiology, health services research, implementation science, psychology, sociology).
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • At least 2 years working within a healthcare organization of significant size and complexity.
  • At least 2 years of experience in quality improvement, knowledge management, knowledge translation, change management, or clinical education.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong writing and communications skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Visio, Excel, Access, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Demonstrated ability to critically appraise and interpret scientific literature and translate evidence into practical tools and resources.
  • Familiarity with oncology, primary care, supportive care, and health promotion literature.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to offsite meetings, as required.

Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Guidance & Resource Unit (GURU) supports Cancer Care Alberta's multidisciplinary tumour teams and the cancer program management team through the application of rigorous methods for surveillance, evaluation, selection, interpretation, reporting, and translation of knowledge and evidence. Reporting to the Manager of GURU, the Tumour Group Facilitator (TGF) collaborates with a broad network of stakeholders across Cancer Care Alberta to develop and implement evidence-based tools and processes. This includes: 1) supporting the development and implementation of documents and tools that accompany the clinical practice guidelines and pathways, 2) fostering collaboration and knowledge translation across diverse settings and disciplines, including clinicians, operational leaders, and patients, and 3) assisting with the evaluation of clinical practice patterns using clinical data. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively with members of multidisciplinary teams, as well as demonstrated skills in critical thinking, conflict resolution, problem solving, and prioritization/time management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Designations or training in knowledge translation, implementation science, or quality improvement methodologies. Knowledge of and experience in cancer care. Experience supporting the development, implementation, or evaluation of clinical practice guidelines, pathways, or other evidence-based resources.
