Job Description

WSP is currently seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Buildings team, located at our Victoria office.

WSP’s mechanical engineering team in Victoria engages in diverse projects in the commercial, institutional, health care, educational and light industrial sectors in BC and the Yukon. Reporting to the mechanical and electrical manager, this position will be responsible for the preparation of mechanical designs and documentation, construction reviews and administration, and project management.

A day in the life

  • You’ll be using your expertise to design mechanical systems for a wide variety of building and site types throughout BC and the Yukon.
  • You will work on the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for buildings in the health care and institutional/commercial sectors.
  • You will participate with a design team of mechanical engineers and technicians, focused on technical solutions, developing mechanical designs, and reviewing field work.
  • You’ll communicate with clients, other design team partners, authorities, and contractors.

Qualifications

  • P.Eng. registration with EGBC or another Canadian provincial engineering association.
  • 5+ years of experience in consulting mechanical design engineering for buildings.
  • Ability to lead a design/project delivery team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver comprehensive design submissions, often with demanding timelines.
  • An extensive understanding of building construction and building mechanical systems and controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Carrier HAP or equivalent industry standard analysis software is required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and REVIT is considered an advantage.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $82,900 to 114,000

WSP Canada is providing the compensation range that the company believes it will pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
