Job summary

Colonial Group in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a hands-on insulation installer to lead batt insulation projects across walls, ceilings, floors, attics, and crawl spaces. You will read blueprints, ensure code compliance, coordinate with supervisors and contractors, and document work with mobile devices.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle insulation materials and equipment safely.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and at heights.
  • Possess and maintain all required safety certifications and documentation.
  • Must supply and maintain personal hand tools and equipment required for the position.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle for travel to and from job sites.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation of batt insulation in walls, ceilings, floors, attics, crawl spaces, and other building assemblies to reduce the transfer of heat, cold, sound, and fire.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, building plans, and project specifications to ensure quality installations.
  • Ensure all insulation installations meet applicable building codes, manufacturer specifications, and company quality standards.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with Production Supervisors, Branch Management, Sales Teams, General Contractors, and other trades on site.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve installation challenges or site-related issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Prepare job sites by protecting finished surfaces, and ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Perform post-installation site clean-up and ensure work areas are left neat, organized, and free of debris.
  • Safely operate ladders, scaffolding, aerial work platforms, and other equipment while working at heights.
  • Complete required documentation, including our automated service programming (Field Service Lightning (FSL)) entries, job notes, photos, and other digital records using a company-issued or personal mobile device.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience through professional communication, workmanship, and attention to detail.
  • Adhere to all company health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programs.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure installations are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain company and customer property in a safe and respectful manner.
