A unique opportunity in health care philanthropy in British Columbia.

Join one of BC’s leading foundations to lead a comprehensive campaign supporting innovative, compassionate care across Providence and beyond.

About St. Paul’s Foundation
St. Paul’s Foundation raises funds to support patients, residents, caregivers, and families at St. Paul’s Hospital and Providence Health Care’s 18 sites across BC. Our donors are vital to our mission of delivering compassionate care, research, and education.

As we celebrate over 130 years of history and look forward to our new hospital on the Jim Pattison Medical Campus, we aim to push the boundaries of innovation, research, and patient-centered care.

The Opportunity

This is a leadership role impacting healthcare and research across BC. As the Executive Director of Development, you will join a successful team to ensure the foundation’s long-term success and impactful programs.

You will strategize and implement a comprehensive fundraising campaign, engaging donors to support Providence Programs, and providing your team with current tactics and strategies to build momentum. You will lead major and leadership gift fundraisers to identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, while fostering a culture aligned with the foundation’s core practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a prospect pipeline to ensure a healthy donor base.
  • Lead donor engagement strategies and meetings related to Providence Programs.
  • Plan engagement events and stewardship activities.
  • Create business and work plans, including budgets for fundraising and operations.
  • Use metrics to drive campaign results.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships at Providence.
The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in major gift fundraising within hospitals, healthcare foundations, or academic development offices, aligned with our vision and values. You should demonstrate strategic and operational planning skills, leadership, sound judgment, and relational abilities. A post-secondary degree in a relevant field is required. Additional qualities include:
  • Professionalism and a service-oriented attitude.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Initiative, discernment, and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • High computer literacy, including MS Office and experience with Raisers Edge or similar databases.
The Employee Experience

Our culture emphasizes storytelling and personal donor relationships, built on trust and credibility. Internally, we foster a caring, respectful, collaborative environment where contributions make a difference.

We offer a competitive package, including a salary up to $165,000, bonus, health benefits, pension, generous paid time off, professional development support, and a hybrid work model.

This is a pivotal time as we raise funds for a new hospital and medical campus to transform healthcare in BC and globally.

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging applications from underrepresented communities, including people of color, all genders and sexualities, people with disabilities, and Indigenous Peoples.

Interested candidates should visit our website and submit applications to Cecilia Tupper by noon on May 2, 2025, at SPFCareers@providencehealth.bc.ca.
