Executive Director | Travel Penticton DMMO

As Executive Director for Travel Penticton Society, a Destination Marketing/Management Organization (DMMO), you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations, developing and implementing strategic plans, staff development, and stakeholder relations, all while ensuring the organization's financial stability and mission success. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director plays a vital role in elevating Penticton and Penticton Metropolitan’s profile as a tourism and event destination, particularly within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) and sport sectors in a sustainable manner that strengthens the local economy and enriches the quality of life. The ED works closely with stakeholders, partners and the community to fulfill Travel Penticton Society’s

mandate.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Detailed descriptive of the key responsibilities and qualifications:

Key Responsibilities

·Lead the development and execution of strategic, tactical marketing plans targeting leisure, group travel, MICE and sport markets, with approval by the Board and Destination BC.

·Seek out grant and funding opportunities, partnerships, and sponsorships

·Set and achieve organizational goals and objectives through destination marketing and development initiatives.

·Oversee the development and execution of the organization's budget, expenses and cash flows.

·Lead the organization's staff and ensure a positive, innovative and productive work environment.

·Maintain and grow Travel Penticton’s image and equity as a respected Destination Marketing/Management Organization.

·Demonstrate ability to lead through uncertainty and respond effectively to crises, including public health, economic, and environmental challenges, is essential in today’s evolving tourism landscape.

Marketing and Sales:

·Implement innovative marketing campaigns to promote the destination to various target demographics.

·Be aware of constant change in market conditions and manage effects of external influencers in marketing and destination development initiatives.

·Develop and oversee a robust travel media strategy.

·Research and analyze market trends and competitor activities.

·This role requires regular travel to attend trade shows, conferences, and industry events, representing Travel Penticton and promoting the region as a premier destination.

Operations and Management:

·Oversee the daily operations of the organization, ensuring efficient and effective processes.

·Manage the organization's finances and expense activities.

·Foster a workplace culture that encourages innovation, accountability and collaboration

·Provide regular updates and reports to the Board and stakeholders, attend Board meetings (maintain a reporting system for Travel Penticton’s performance, grant acquisition, marketing, ROI, stakeholder engagement)

Stakeholder & Community Engagement:

·Act as a key liaison between Travel Penticton and its stakeholders including members, tourism operators, government agencies and indigenous communities.

·Champion advocacy efforts on behalf of the tourism industry and work with local businesses and community organizations to develop programs and initiatives enhance visitor experiences, develop programs.

·Develop and implement programs that attract visitors and enhance Penticton's image.

·Advocate for the interests of Penticton’s tourism industry.

·Represent Travel Penticton at relevant forums, events, and stakeholder meetings.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·Post-secondary education in Tourism Management, Marketing, Strategic Planning, Business Admin or comparable experience.

·Experience working together with a Board of Directors consisting of tourism industry stakeholders.

·Extensive experience in tourism, hospitality, sales, marketing, including digital marketing strategies, and analytics, or public relations is essential.

·Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to interpret data and market intelligence to guide decisions

·A thorough understanding of destination marketing principles, tourism trends, and the local and provincial tourism industry.

·Comprehensive knowledge of the MRDT, Destination BC with understanding of Municipal and Provincial relations within the tourism industry in BC.

·Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative and inclusive management style. ·Extensive knowledge and expertise in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.

·Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong organizational and team- leading skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

·Experience with digital content strategy, CRM platforms and CMS an asset.

·Innovative thinking and problem-solving talents.

·Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, members and external partners.

·Comprehensive knowledge of the South Okanagan region, Penticton and area.

·Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite software an asset.

·Valid BC Driver’s license.

Compensation Package:

·Comprehensive benefits package

·Paid time off pursuant to BC Labour Standards

·Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per year based on experience

·Position is Full-Time, Permanent, in office.

·Monday – Friday with requirement of extended hours or some weekend work depending on the situation.

·Remote is not available.

·You must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
