Job summary

The United Way of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (UWC SDG) seeks an Executive Director to lead day-to-day operations, set strategic direction, and steward the organization’s resources. Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading a team and managing staff in nonprofit sector.
  • Proven fundraising and donor relations success in nonprofit context.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule including evenings/weekends.
  • Criminal record check if requested.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for the organization.
  • Oversee financial, human, and physical resources with stewardship.
  • Promote an inclusive culture and collaborate with community stakeholders.
  • Serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, ethical and confidentiality requirements.

Job description

The United Way of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (UWC SDG) proudly collaborates with local agencies, businesses, community leaders, government, donors and citizens across the entire region of SDG, Cornwall and Akwesasne to improve lives in our communities.

The Executive Director (ED) will work alongside a dedicated team that values building strong relationships with internal and external interest holders. This role reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the day-to-day operations. The ED ensures compliance with all legislative, regulatory, ethical and confidentiality requirements to a charitable organization that is operating in Ontario under a Membership Agreement with United Way Canada.

As the organization's most senior leader, the ED provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and effective stewardship of the organization’s financial, human, and physical resources. The ED promotes an inclusive culture grounded in collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement both within the organization and in partnership with community interest holders. The ED also serves as the organization’s primary spokesperson.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Previous management experience, including leading a team and managing employees (experience in the not-for-profit sector an asset).
  • Proven success in fundraising and networking, including knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations specific to the not-for-profit sector
  • The ability to connect with people and build strong, trusting relationships
  • Excellent communication, public relations, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software
  • A valid driver’s permit and access to a reliable automobile
  • Creativity and/or innovation skills
  • Ability to provide a valid and negative Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check if requested
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule that may include some evenings and weekends and to work additional hours as required.
Compensation
  • Salary range: $70,000 and $85,000.
