The Executive Chef oversees daily kitchen operations, menu planning, food quality, and culinary team performance. Working closely with the residence leadership and dining services teams, you will deliver delicious, nutritious meals that reflect residents’ preferences and dietary needs.
Lead daily culinary operations, ensuring consistent food quality, presentation, and timely service.
Develop varied, seasonal menus that balance resident preferences, nutritional needs, and creativity.
Prepare and oversee meals for regular dining service, special events, and celebrations.
Accommodate allergies, therapeutic diets, and texture modifications according to documented requirements.
Recruit, train, coach, and support the culinary team.
Manage scheduling, purchasing, inventory, food costs, and waste within established budgets.
Maintain food safety, sanitation, and kitchen health and safety standards.
Engage with residents, welcome feedback, and adapt offerings to enhance their dining experience.
Coordinate with dining and care teams to support individual resident needs.
Maintain accurate operational records and ensure kitchen equipment is used and maintained properly.
Culinary diploma, apprenticeship, Red Seal certification, or equivalent relevant experience.
Previous experience as an Executive Chef, Head Chef, or Sous Chef with demonstrated team leadership.
Experience in retirement living, hospitality, healthcare, or another high-volume dining environment.
Strong knowledge of food safety, menu development, purchasing, and cost control.
Understanding of dietary accommodations, food allergies, and texture-modified meals.
Food handler certification, or willingness to obtain the certification required for the location.
Strong communication, organizational, and people management skills.
