RED Mountain Resort is hiring for an enthusiastic and organized Events Coordinator! The coordinator reports directly to the Event Manager and works directly with the Event Volunteers. This position will assist in planning, coordinating, and executing all of RED’s year-round events as defined by the Events Manager. The role involves delivering events from start to finish with high levels of production, coordination, and organization. The candidate must be comfortable in a leadership role working with many stakeholders and possess a creative, business-driven mindset with the ability to build strong relationships and provide an exceptional event experience.
This is a full-time, seasonal position for 10 months per year, with an annual wage rate of $52,000.
Major Responsibilities
- Organize, coordinate, and execute all RED Mountain events, including staff events, new events, on-hill events, and seasonal events.
- Collaborate with the Event Manager, Sales and Marketing Manager, and Social Media Coordinator to promote events via social media, posters, and website updates.
- Manage the event volunteer program, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and tracking hours, with support from the Event Manager.
- Handle registration data and manage volunteers to ensure smooth registration processes, minimizing errors.
- Create event plans and run of show in collaboration with the Event Manager.
- Support communication with stakeholders, internal teams, third-party coordinators, and sponsors.
- Assist the Event Manager with P&L and event proposals annually.
- Research and develop new event opportunities.
- Track all budget items accurately and ensure proper invoicing and coding.
- Coordinate with sanctioning bodies as needed.
- Support large third-party events like BC Enduro and Broken Goat.
- Manage event assets and prizes, including inventory, ordering, and sponsor communication.
- Ensure all deadlines are met and maintain clear communication across departments.
- Distribute event sheets and manage the event calendar.
- Lead pre-event meetings and organize volunteers and internal teams before, during, and after events.
- Oversee on-hill events as required.
- Ensure all waivers are completed and stored for at least 5 years.
- Organize day-of registration areas and participate in post-event debriefs and reports.
Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education
- Certificate or Diploma in Events Management or a similar discipline.
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in event planning or coordination, preferably in a resort or ski industry environment.
- Proven success in coordinating successful events.
Physical and Other Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors for at least 8 hours in various conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Advanced/expert skier or snowboarder; mountain biking experience is a plus.
