Job Description
Summary of Responsibilities:
Engaging service, delicious cuisine, and distinctive surroundings make every special event at Fairmont Waterfront a truly memorable affair. Your attention to detail and excellent communication skills as Event Supervisor will empower your team to deliver exceptional service to guests of our group functions.
- Maintain, enforce, and enhance the Fairmont’s Service Promises and standards as identified by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Food & Beverage Standards Manual, acting as a role model for exceptional performance
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance, assuming a positive, helpful, and supportive attitude towards every guest and colleague
- Supervise floor activity, lead by example
- Maintain strong communication with Event Managers and other hotel departments
- Adopt and promote all company health, safety, and sustainability policies to ensure a safe work environment
- Meet and exceed targets for Meeting Planner Voice of Guest Survey Satisfaction, departmental productivity, and colleague engagement
- Conduct performance management, including colleague reviews
- Oversee and assist with Event Food & Beverage functions, providing direction and training to service staff
- Create liaison between kitchen leaders/colleagues, event colleagues, and function convenors
- Monitor event porters and servers to ensure work is completed as required and specified on contracts
- Assist event managers with office duties such as billing, scheduling, and staff assignments
- Ensure all event equipment is maintained in perfect working condition
- Perform server, porter, bartending, and cashier duties as required
- Open or close the banquet floor as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in hospitality or food and beverage management is an asset
- Minimum two years of event leadership or serving experience in a luxury event/conference operation comparable to Fairmont Waterfront
- Strong leadership qualities and excellent communication skills
- Ability to delegate tasks and motivate colleagues
- Completion of Level 1 or 2 First Aid course is an asset
- Highly organized, able to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Effective at handling concerns, anticipating and problem-solving as needed
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Sales & Catering Opera
- Able to lift/move heavy objects
- Flexible with working hours and shifts, full-time availability
