Qualifications

• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Previous retail or customer-facing experience preferred.
• Ability to quickly perform basic math and accurately handle transactions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive and dependable, able to work without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Represent BC Parks Foundation positively and professionally.
• Welcome customers and provide excellent customer service.
• Educate customers about our merchandise and the online store.
• Share information with visitors and answer questions about our programs and mission.
• Efficiently and accurately process retail merchandise sales.
• Ensure the booth is attractively presented, well-stocked, and organized.
• Track inventory during the event and communicate replenishment needs.
• Complete end-of-day closing and event wrap-up tasks.
• Assist with transporting event materials and merchandise as required.
• Complete post-event unpacking and organization.
• Follow safety regulations, including proper lifting procedures and timely reporting of all accidents and near misses.

Purpose: To support the retail team through a combination of event operations, customer service, merchandise sales, inventory support and behind-the-scenes retail support.

Role Summary

The Event Ambassador will represent the BC Parks Foundation positively at the Shipyards Christmas Market from November 27 to December 24, 2026, helping raise funds through merchandise sales, build brand awareness, and ensure events and retail activities run smoothly. This will require consistent availability through the period, including weekends and holiday dates, as scheduled. Events are dynamic by nature, and schedules, priorities, and responsibilities can sometimes change with little notice so the Ambassador will be comfortable switching gears when needed.

The Christmas Market represents a unique opportunity for the Foundation to raise funds through sales of BCPF branded merchandise over the holiday season, increasing awareness of our product offerings, building goodwill, and generating future sales opportunities. The Event Ambassador will host the BCPF booth and engage with attendees at the Christmas Market, with the objective of supporting our sales efforts and raising awareness of our brand and mission.

Retail Operations & Inventory

• Coordinate with the Manager, Retail Operations on stock levels and inventory replenishment needs
• Asist with receiving, organizing and moving retail merchandise

Administration & Coordination

• Assist with weekly forms, permits, security access, and event documentation
• Help respond to in person or online customer questions, claims and custom requests
• Assist with sales tracking and post-event analysis
