Job summary

The District of Saanich is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Certified Mechanic to join Fleet Services, working on a wide municipal fleet including heavy duty and electric vehicles. The role requires journey-level mechanics with diagnostic skills, inspections, and maintenance across diverse equipment.

Ideal candidates include certified heavy duty, commercial transport, or automotive mechanics, with relevant apprentices near Red Seal. Benefits and a stable public-sector environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Certified Heavy Duty, Commercial Transport, or Automotive Mechanics.
• 4th or 3rd year apprentices near Red Seal may be considered.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level mechanical work on municipal vehicles and equipment.
• Include inspection, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and related work.
• Work on heavy duty equipment, commercial trucks, automotive vehicles, and electric vehicles; welding, electrical, maintenance, and body refinishing.
