Job summary

Wasauksing First Nation is seeking a Part-Time Social Navigator & Intake Worker to support the shelter team. The role covers 5:30pm–10:30pm, offering crisis counselling, intake support, and referrals for Indigenous residents and shelter guests on and off reserve.

Under the Housing Manager, you will maintain a welcoming environment, conduct client assessments, and document services while coordinating with community resources. Flexibility for evenings/weekends is required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in social work or related field is an asset.
  • 2–3 years frontline social services experience required.
  • Registration with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers an asset.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous perspectives and community supports.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with shelter team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proficient with MS 365.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a warm, welcoming shelter environment for guests.
  • Assess client needs to determine services and eligibility.
  • Provide crisis counselling and safety planning.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate intake records.
  • Provide referrals to community resources.
  • Coordinate with shelter staff and managers on incident reporting.
  • Complete daily documentation and information sharing.
  • Support flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
