Job summary

Wasauksing First Nation is seeking an On-Call Social Navigator & Intake Worker to join the shelter team. Weekend shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekdays, provide non-judgmental support and crisis intake for Indigenous residents and shelter guests overnight.

Under Housing Manager supervision, you will conduct intake interviews, offer crisis counselling, coordinate referrals, maintain confidentiality, and help plan safety.

Qualifications

  • Degree in social work, counselling psychology, or social service work is preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years frontline experience in social services.
  • Current registration with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a warm, welcoming environment for clients and guests.
  • Interview clients to assess needs and determine services.
  • Provide crisis counselling and safety planning.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect client information.
  • Coordinate referrals and complete intake documentation.
  • Support shelter operations and coordinate donations as needed.
  • Adhere to Wasauksing First Nation policies and procedures.
