Job summary

VitaminLab in Victoria, BC is hiring an Evening Sanitation & Dishwashing Technician to maintain GMP-compliant cleaning of production areas and equipment. The role involves moving dirty components through a high-throughput dishwashing process and keeping the lab well stocked with clean parts.

The candidate should be comfortable with lifting, standing for long periods, and following SOPs while working evenings Sunday–Thursday, 2 pm–10:30 pm at our Store Street facility. Base salary range is posted.

Qualifications

  • Experience keeping GMP and sanitation standards in a lab or production setting.
  • Ability to operate a dishwasher and handle sanitation duties safely.
  • WHMIS awareness and general safety compliance are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize workstations, production areas and equipment.
  • Operate an industrial dishwasher to clean parts and utensils per GMP.
  • Inspect equipment and rooms for cleanliness prior to use.
  • Document tasks in the daily sanitation checklist and ensure compliance.

About the Role:

The Sanitation & Dishwashing Technician is responsible for ensuring that the lab is cleaned and sanitized as per our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and in accordance with General Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.About half of this role includes routine general cleaning of our Production rooms, corridor and storage areas, while the other half focuses on moving dirty production components through our high-throughput dish pit.This role is vital for keeping our evening shift running smoothly and well stocked with clean machine components and tools.

Our ideal candidate for this role is driven to keep the lab looking its best and to support the daily needs of our Production team.They find satisfaction in cleaning and are comfortable and physically capable with spraying, scrubbing and manually moving metal components through the dishwashing process.This role is an owner of our cleaning tools and our high-capacity cleaning and sanitation area, and is a driving force behind our GMP and Sanitation programs.

Some key tasks that you will be involved in include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work in partnership with other Sanitation Technicians and Production Support functions under the direction of the Sanitation Supervisor
  • Clean and sanitize of workstations, production areas and equipment
  • Operate an industrial dishwasher to clean and sanitize all parts and utensils in accordance with GMP standards
  • Perform regular inspections to ensure equipment and rooms are clean prior to being used
  • Use approved chemicals to disinfect surfaces
  • Work in a safe and conscientious manner and independently with minimum supervision
  • Certified in WHMIS, adheres to all safety standards and good manufacturing practices
  • Audit Daily Sanitation Checklist and document all tasks completed and incomplete
  • Meets compliance standards as part of the regulatory team-sanitation chemicals and sanitation equipment

You should be:

  • Uber-organized, someone who can understand the bigger picture and the flow of a situation.You are able to ensure the details are all in place for success.
  • Have quick hand speed and enjoy working quickly with your hands and enjoy ramping up your results over time.
  • Enjoys moving around and being busy throughout your entire shift.
  • Passionate about cleaning as this job will involve cleaning duties throughout the facility.
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow specific guidelines.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to take initiative and find better ways of doing things.
  • Coachable and a quick learner.
  • Bonus: understand and have employed USP, NSF or GMP procedures in the past.

Physical requirements:

  • Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds and frequently handle metal components up to 10 pounds.
  • Able to stand for 8 hrs comfortably.
  • Able to bend, kneel and twist safely and comfortably while moving or lifting items.
  • Able to safely use cleaning chemicals (with training)

The typical starting base salary range for this position is $19.50 - $21.00/hr .This role is Sunday to Thursday, 2 pm - 10:30 pm . This role is based out of our Manufacturing facility at 2-2110 Store Street, Victoria, BC.
