Bonaventure Support Services is hiring a Health Care Support Worker for a part-time role in Parksville, BC. The position involves assisting individuals with mobility in a live-in group home setting, providing personal care, medication support, and community participation.

You will work under supervision with a strong team, ensuring dignity, safety, and independence while promoting meaningful activities and connections within the home and the community.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree or relevant experience with diverse abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, lifts, transfers, and health support for mobility needs.
• Operate an adapted wheelchair-accessible van for safe community access.
• Support daily living activities, recreation, and skill development.
• Safely administer, monitor, and record medications per established protocols.
• Apply positive behavioural intervention strategies and recognize behaviour as communication.
• Respond to challenging situations using crisis intervention and risk management strategies.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment, reporting safety issues promptly.
• Build strong, respectful relationships with supported individuals, families, and colleagues.
