Job summary

The City of Edmonton is seeking Waste Outreach Educators to engage residents door-to-door and support the city’s 25-year Waste Strategy. You will educate apartment and condo communities on food scraps and recycling while collecting data on outcomes in afternoon and evening hours.

Role requires strong communication, ability to handle challenging conversations, and the capacity to coordinate access with property managers. You will represent Waste Services professionally in the field.

Qualifications

• Completion of the first year of a recognized Recreation Administration or related diploma or degree program.
• One (1) year direct experience leading recreational, cultural or related educational programs.
• Assets: Knowledge of the City of Edmonton’s Waste Service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct door-to-door educational outreach and collect data.
• Answer questions about waste services and educate residents to empower proper sorting.
• Visit apartment/building residents year-round, indoors and outdoors.
• Coordinate building access with property managers and provide status updates to coordinators.
• Follow safety procedures and act as ambassador for Waste Services in the community.
