Job summary

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking an Estimator to join our Southern Ontario team in Scarborough. You will prepare electrical, mechanical and civil take-offs and estimates while leading tender activities for construction projects in the GTA.

The role requires 5+ years in estimating, a relevant degree or diploma, and proficiency with Bid2Win and MS Office. You will collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors and owners to ensure competitive pricing and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in estimates.
• Experience communicating with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• 5+ years of estimating experience on construction projects is preferred.
• Proficiency with Bid2Win estimating software and MS Office.

• Accurately estimate costs of materials, labour, and equipment from drawings and specs.
• Lead the tendering process and implement cost-monitoring and reporting.
• Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors and owners to finalize price packages.
• Engage in site/tender reviews, hand-offs and project closings.
• Build and maintain directories of suppliers and subcontractors.
• Propose innovative solutions for project estimates with engineers and stakeholders.
• Develop tender construction schedules and scope-of-work methodologies.
• Maintain the Bid2Win database for project estimation.

• Actively engage in site reviews, tender reviews, hand-offs, and project closings.
• Build and maintain a comprehensive directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Propose innovative solutionsfor project estimates in collaboration with engineers and stakeholders.
• Develop tender construction schedules and scope-of-work methodologies.
• Maintain the Bid2Win database for seamless project estimation.

Education & Experience

• A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering or Construction Fundamentals
• Electrical trade background is an asset.
• 5+ years of experience in estimating
• Experience construction projects an asset
• Proficiency in tools like MS Office and Bid2Win estimating software.
