Job summary

Specified Roofing Inc. is expanding with a dedicated Architectural Facades division in Ontario.

As Senior Estimator you will lead estimating for the new division, develop relationships with design and construction teams, and shape the division’s long-term success. You will prepare detailed take-offs, review tender documents, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, while mentoring junior estimators and contributing to cost databases and estimating systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of estimating experience in commercial cladding or building envelope.
• Deep knowledge of ACM panel systems and cladding materials.
• Ability to read architectural, structural, and shop drawings.
• Experience estimating projects from $250k to $10M+.
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and negotiating skills.
• Proficient with Excel; familiarity with Bluebeam/AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to mentor junior estimators.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with project management to ensure a smooth handover after award.
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, consultants, architects, suppliers and manufacturers.
• Help develop estimating systems, cost databases, productivity rates and standard costing models.
• Monitor market conditions, material pricing and industry trends.
• Mentor and support junior estimators as the division grows.
• Contribute to business development and strategic planning for the division.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality throughout tendering.

Specified is an established, well-respected building envelope contractor delivering commercial and institutional roofing, cladding and waterproofing projects across Ontario. As part of our continued growth, we have launched a dedicated Architectural Facades division, and we are hiring a Senior Estimator to help build it.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Estimating & Preconstruction, the Senior Estimator will lead estimating for the Architectural Facades division. The role requires deep knowledge of commercial cladding systems, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to produce accurate, competitive estimates while supporting the division’s strategic growth. You will be equally comfortable preparing detailed estimates, engaging with clients and consultants, and helping develop estimating procedures and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of estimating experience in commercial cladding, building envelope or facade construction
• Strong knowledge of ACM panel systems, aluminum plate, metal wall panels, insulated metal panels, standing seam, fibre cement panels, wood siding, rainscreen systems and architectural wall systems
• Thorough understanding of commercial construction practices and contract documentation
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and shop drawings
• Experience estimating projects ranging from approximately $250,000 to $10 million or more
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities
• Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders under deadline
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, estimating software or similar take-off tools is an asset

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Technology or a related discipline
• Previous experience mentoring or managing estimating staff
• Established relationships with general contractors, consultants, architects and suppliers in the commercial construction market
