Job summary

Acadian Construction is seeking an Estimator to deliver accurate budgets for residential, commercial, and industrial projects across Atlantic Canada. You will analyze drawings, quantify scopes, and price quantified items while coordinating with subcontractors and the Acadian team to drive projects from inception to completion.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of estimating experience with a general contractor in construction.
  • Postsecondary education in Construction Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments for each estimate, interpreting contracts and supplementary conditions to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Project Planning: Develop execution plans for projects, including preliminary schedules with start and completion dates.
  • Site Assessments: Attend meetings and site visits to evaluate project complexities and determine the best approach.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear communication and relationships with clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and Acadian team members.
  • Market Monitoring: Stay informed about market trends in residential, industrial, and commercial sectors to identify profitable opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Embrace new technologies, methods, and feedback to enhance estimating processes.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a team-oriented environment, sharing best practices and supporting colleagues to achieve goals.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, On-Screen Takeoff; familiarity with Revit BIM.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
