Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' estimating experience in construction.

• Knowledge of Division 10 construction specialties is a plus.
• Post-secondary degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is an asset.

Estimator – Architectural Millwork & Commercial Specialties

Location: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Salary: $60,000–$80,000 per year, negotiable based on experience. Position Type: Full-Time, In-Office.

Our client, a leading architectural millwork and commercial specialties contractor, is looking for an experienced Estimator to join their growing team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a background in commercial construction who enjoys working with construction drawings, preparing accurate and competitive bids, and building strong relationships with suppliers and project teams.

The successful candidate will play an important role in the project lifecycle, helping ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project specifications and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, addendums, and change orders to determine project requirements.
• Review requests for quotations (RFQs) and tender packages for Division 10 architectural specialties and related products.
• Prepare accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates and quotations.
• Manage multiple estimates and tender deadlines simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing, product information, and availability.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, customers, and internal project teams.
• Work closely with project management and other team members to support successful project delivery.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the company's products, services, and business operations.
• Respond to customer enquiries, including walk-in customers, and provide professional service throughout the quoting process.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of construction industry experience in an estimating role.
• Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other estimating or project management software.
• Familiarity with Seradex and Procore is an asset.
• Previous project management experience, preferably within commercial construction, is an asset.
• Knowledge of Division 10 construction specialties and installation is considered a strong asset.
• A post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field is an asset.
