Job summary

FundyPros Specialty Construction, a leading Atlantic Canada contractor, is seeking an Estimator to join our team. You will prepare tenders, perform quantity takeoffs, and coordinate with engineers, architects, clients, and suppliers from initial estimate through project completion.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years’ estimating experience on medium to large projects, proficient in reading drawings, and in estimating software (Stack, On Screen Takeoff).

Qualifications

• Diploma in drafting, engineering and/or construction fields.
• Proficient with estimating software such as Stack, On Screen Takeoff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and respond to tenders.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and estimates from drawings and specs.
• Obtain competitive pricing for materials and labour.
• Prepare quotations and follow up with customers.
• Lead sales conversions on quoted projects.
• Maintain directory of suppliers and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, clients, and suppliers to prepare estimates.
• Prepare project documents and assist handoff with PMs and foremen.
• Attend site visits to assess job-site conditions.

As the company continues its significant growth trajectory, FundyPros is seeking an experienced Estimator to play a critical role and to be part of a high performing team, delivering accurate, timely, and competitive estimates, working with working with clients and/or contractors on their project from the initial estimate through to completion. As the ideal candidate you bring a minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience estimating medium to large scale construction projects, along with a proven ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications. With expertise in drywall and/or the construction industry, you have a working history demonstrating your ability to convert on quoted projects.

What you’ll be doing

• Prepare, examine, and respond to tenders.
• Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and estimates of probable cost of material, labour and equipment for construction projects based on Architectural and Structural drawings and specifications.
• Obtain competitive material and labour pricing when performing quantity takeoffs.
• Prepare quotations and follow up with customers on submitted quotations.
• Lead sales conversion actions on quoted projects
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, clients, suppliers to prepare estimates
• Prepare accurate project documents and lead project handoff process when awarded a project alongside a Project Managers and Job Site Foremen.
• Attend site visits to assess job-site conditions.

What we are looking for

• A diploma in drafting, engineering and/or construction related fields.
• Have competence in the use of estimating software (Stack, On Screen Takeoff, etc)
• Commitment to Completion – a commitment to taking ownership, staying focused, and seeing work through to completion at deadline.
• Technical – an ability to understand construction drawings to assess project scope and perform accurate quantity takeoffs and estimates.
• Organizational Skills – an ability to work with a large amount of information and manage several projects to accommodate business needs.
• Concern for Quality and Details – an ability to manage a large amount of information and be focused on the quality of estimates and data keeping processes.
• Teamwork – an ability to work with and collaborate on projects with various employees in the company.
• Value engineering – an ability to effectively identify problems with cost implications and propose reasonable alternatives to customers

Pay: $75,000 -$90,000 + annual incentive plan
