We are seeking Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Students for our Canadian Industrial Division to work as an Estimating Student in our Edmonton, AB office. The positions are available for 4 or 8 months, starting in September 2025. The roles will be under the supervision of a lead estimator.

As an Estimating Student, depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to:

1. Understand and utilize PCL’s estimating manuals, systems, and forms
2. Review quantity survey assignments with the lead estimator
3. Perform assigned quantity surveys
4. Provide quantities of major purchase items to the purchasing department for pricing
5. Transfer and review quantities with the lead estimator
6. Manage bid document control
7. Perform bid day assignments
8. Visit job sites periodically
9. Develop relationships with trade contractors
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the lead estimator

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

• Pursuing a degree or diploma in engineering with a mechanical, electrical, or civil major
• A strong desire to work in construction; prior field experience is an asset
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD and Bluebeam is an asset
• Self-motivated
