The Estimate Lead owns the estimating effort from early pursuit through bid close, provides leadership to estimating teams, and ensures a strong handoff to operations to support successful project execution.

Kiewits project work is large, complex and varied, and at times never been done before, requiring the need to think 'outside of the box'. The estimating group works as a team, and with management present during the process from beginning to end. Our estimating practices are intensely rigorous and detailed-oriented, incorporating powerful systems.

Location

Our head office is located in Calgary, AB. The successful candidate will be able to work in the office full-time. • Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop plan and schedule for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate.
  • Prepare pursuit win strategy in conjunction with Business Development and Senior Operations Staff.
  • Develop pursuit procurement strategy.
  • Reviews all bid and contract documents with the support home office legal department opinions.
  • Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present.
  • Utilize estimating techniques and procedures to conduct investigation and adhere to standard company policy and procedures.
  • Address any major technical problems encountered during bid preparation.
  • Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry.
