A leading company in the mining sector is seeking an ESG Reporting & Governance Lead for a 14-month contract. This role will focus on developing ESG reporting strategies, coordinating assurance, and aligning with sustainability governance frameworks. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in environmental science or sustainability, with at least 8 years of relevant experience. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential, along with familiarity with ESG standards and reporting requirements.

The ESG Reporting & Governance Lead will support the development and execution of the company’s ESG reporting strategy, including key disclosures like the Sustainability Report, Conflict-Free Gold Report, and Responsible Gold Report. This role involves coordinating third-party assurance, maintaining sustainability reporting software, and preparing ESG content for regulatory filings such as the MD&A, MIC, and AIF. The lead will oversee responses to ESG raters, monitor emerging ESG reporting requirements, and collaborate with internal teams to produce regular management reports.
Additionally, the role supports the company’s sustainability governance framework, updates policies, and aligns with evolving standards like the Consolidated Mining Standard. The position also involves supporting the company's human rights strategy and working closely with operations and senior management.
What You Need to Succeed
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in environmental science, sustainability, business, or a related field, with experience in the mining sector being a strong asset. They should demonstrate leadership, expertise in sustainability and climate issues, and familiarity with ESG standards such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and CSDS. Knowledge of ESG rating agencies is required, with at least 8 years of relevant experience preferred.
Essential skills include analytical thinking, problem-solving, excellent communication, and project management. The candidate must be able to lead and collaborate across functions, manage one direct report, and be fluent in English; proficiency in French is an asset.
