Job summary

STERIS is seeking an Equipment Service Technician to travel across Atlantic Canada, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, installation and calibration on complex equipment in pharmaceutical, medical device and research facilities. You will build positive customer relationships and complete administrative tasks in a full-time, permanent role.

  • Provide Customers with information, pricing and repair options; identify sales opportunities
  • Support multiple locations within assigned territory as needed

Job description

At STERIS, our Equipment Service Technician will act as the face of our company by ensuring top-notch service for our Customers. In this field-based, Customer-facing role, you will travel to pharmaceutical, medical device and research facilities, in and around Halifax, NS to maintain, troubleshoot, service, and provide calibration and installation support on complex mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic units. Additionally, you will be responsible for building positive relationships with Customers and colleagues, as well as completing necessary administrative tasks. Please note that this is a Full-Time/Permanent position which involves up to 75% travel around the Atlantic Canada region (including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island).

What You Will Do As An Equipment Service Technician
  • Perform fundamental troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems and components.
  • Manage time effectively by prioritizing Customer and business needs and schedules autonomously to complete PM performance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs and other duties.
  • Work with cross functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering and Service Contract Management), to elevate issues appropriately and utilizes advanced technology platforms to complete compliance regulatory requirements, and resolve and document troubleshooting issues.
  • The Technician will provide Customers with information, pricing and repair options. With management support, build relationships with Sales to drive Customer experience and revenue opportunities. Learn to identify sales opportunities in assigned territory.
  • Provide support to various locations within assigned territory depending on the service agreements and Customer needs.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
  • Secondary School Diploma, Graduation Certificate, or CAEC
  • 2 years of experience in a mechanical/technical role
  • Associates degree or related certifications in technical/mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards technical experience requirement
  • Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes outside "normal business hours"
  • Must live within 80 kilometers of center of territory
  • Must be able to lift up to 11 kilograms at times and push wheeled transporters up to about 23 kilograms
  • Valid driver's license and the ability meet all required background and physical assessment elements to obtain and maintain existing and new vendor credentialing requirements
Preferred
  • General knowledge of GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GLPs (Good Laboratory Practices)
  • Excellent interpersonal and Customer communication skills
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
