Responsibilities
  • Operate various types of equipment safely and effectively, using machine-specific controls to complete excavation and grading tasks.
  • Operate near other equipment and personnel in high-traffic construction zones.
  • Work in confined, fast-paced environments with awareness of buried utilities and structures.
  • Interpret verbal and non-verbal communication, including hand signals, from operators, ground personnel, and laborers, and act accordingly.
  • Perform mechanical inspections, routine maintenance, and servicing of equipment, including controls, logbook entries, and machine lubrication.
  • Identify hazards through pre-job hazard analysis, machine checks, and task assessments.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, on time, and within deadlines.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum 4+ years of heavy equipment operating experience in busy, high-traffic construction environments.
  • Competence and experience operating loaders, Zoom Booms, skid steers, rubber-tire backhoes, and mini hoes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean 3-year driving record.
  • Certifications in CSTS-2020 Fundamentals and WHMIS 2015 (training provided).
Work Conditions
  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with evenings and weekends off.
  • Work in all weather conditions year-round and assist where needed.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including extended health, dental, and prescription coverage through CLAC.
  • Residence in the Greater Edmonton Region is required.
