Responsibilities

• Various types of equipment are effectively and safely operated - utilizing machine specific controls to complete all necessary tasks related to excavation and grading
• This includes operating near other equipment and people in often high traffic construction zones
• Operates in confined, fast-paced working environments, and exercises extreme caution with awareness of buried utilities and structures
• Interprets verbal and non-verbal communication (including hand signals) from operators, ground personnel and Labourers, and acts accordingly
• Performs basic mechanical inspections and servicing including controls and operations, completing logbooks, performs maintenance and adjustments, ensures good housekeeping of all equipment, and machine lubrication
• Recognize existing and potential hazards and know how to identify these through conducting a field level pre-job hazard analysis, checking the machine for hazards and assessing any tasks before starting
• Ensuring that work is safely completed by the set deadlines and on schedule

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 4+ years’ heavy equipment operating in a busy, high-traffic construction environment
• Must be fully competent and experienced with operating all of the following: – Loader, Zoom Boom, Skid Steer, Rubber Tire Backhoe and Mini Hoe
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and meet deadlines
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean 3-year driver’s abstract
• CSTS-2020 Fundamentals and WHMIS 2015 certifications (training provided)

Work Conditions

• Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (evenings and weekends free)
• Work in all weather conditions year-round and willing to lend a hand where needed
