Job summary

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure in Bathurst invites applications for an Equipment Operator. Reporting to the Highway Supervisor, you will operate and maintain heavy equipment, perform routine maintenance, and help ensure safe road conditions during winter and adverse weather.

We seek candidates with at least three years of heavy equipment experience, a valid Class 1 license with airbrakes, and bilingual English/French abilities.

Qualifications

  • Completion of grade ten (10).
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the operation of heavy equipment.
  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with endorsement for airbrakes issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.

Responsibilities

  • Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of heavy equipment (grader, tandem truck, truck with trailer, etc.).
  • Involved in highway maintenance and construction tasks.
  • Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment and keeping work records.
  • Ensure roads are safe for public use through plowing and sand/salt application.

What you will do

Reporting to theHighway Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a grader, tandem truck, truck with trailer equipped with air brakes and other heavy equipment;
  • involved in various highway maintenance and construction tasks;
  • performing normal maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment, preparing and maintaining work records on the operation of the assigned equipment;
  • ensure roads are safe for public use through plowing and placing sand and salt on roads.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Completion of grade ten (10)

SALARY:

Equipment Operator: $29.29 per hour, based on a 40- hour week.
