Job summary

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking a Seasonal Construction Worker in Fredericton to support field operations under the Technical Supervisor. You will assist in quantity calculations, set up and operate a Total Station Instrument, coordinate staff on site, and aid in sampling and concrete testing.

Based in Fredericton with a 40-hour work week and potential evenings/weekends, the role requires a high school diploma or GED, 6+ years related experience, and a valid NB

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years related work experience.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Responsibilities

What you will do

As a Construction Worker, you will work under the direction of the Technical Supervisor and be responsible for:

assisting the Technical Supervisor in quantity calculations, set up and operations of a Total Station Instrument;

co-ordinate, provide instruction to employees on the job, as required;

assisting in taking samples and performing concrete testing.

Work environment:

Office location: 1025 College Hill Road, Fredericton.

40-hour work week, with variable hours, including, evenings and weekends, when required.

Working on job sites in all weather conditions, exposure to dust and fumes.

Ability to lift and carry survey equipment and walking over uneven or sloping terrain.

Able to work at heights and around bridges.

Some travel within the region will be required.

SALARY:

Construction Worker: $30.44 per hour, based on a 40- hour week.
